Get your body back online with a Plant Based diet. Let's get well.
I dabbled in vegetarianism back in 2014. I felt horrible. I was hungry and sluggish and foggy. In 2018, I was a junk food vegan for a minute. Again, I felt horrible. My Whole Food Plant Based journey started in 2019. I watched a few documentaries ("Forks over Knives" and "Fat Sick and Nearly Dead") that opened my eyes to the connection between food and health. Then I met real, live people who were plant based and reversing disease and feeling good. It changed everything for me. I was in.
This refers to a Whole Food Plant-Based lifestyle of consuming foods in their natural form (or very close to it). While I use the term WFBP interchangeably with "Plant-based", it's important to note the meaning changes by contexts. For example, food industry marketers often describe ultra-processed vegan junk foods as "Plant Based" to attract a health-conscious customer base. These products are often ultra-processed, stripped of nutrients, and pumped full of sodium, sugar, and preservatives.
Yes. Without a doubt. Plants provide all nine essential amino acids. Spinach contains more protein per calorie than steak. This is how plant based eaters (who eat to satiety) get plenty of protein. We eat it.
The benefits are virtually endless. Reduced risk of heart disease, type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, autoimmune disease, obesity, and certain cancers. In many cases, a whole food plant based diet has been shown to halt or even reverse disease progression. WFBP eating supports a healthy gut microbiome, improves mood, slows the aging process at a cellular level, and increases physical stamina in the gym and in the bedroom.
