FAQs

What equipment do you recommend?

Button

1. a "smart" scale. I use a $25 Renpho smart scale from Amazon. It works. 2. Continuous Glucose Monitors - a nice addition if you can afford them. This makes personalization easier. $90 a month from Amazon if your insurance, like mine, won't pay for it. 3. A basic BP cuff - if you have hypertension, you probably already own one, right?

What labs do you recommend?

HbA1c - gives us an idea how bad off you are Fasting Insulin - since diabetes is an issue with insulin, think we should measure it periodically? Yes, we should. Do we? No, we do not. If you're on insulin therapy, don't get this. HOMA-IR score - we can calculate this if you get a fasting blood sugar at the same time as the fasting insulin level. C-peptide - if you're on insulin therapy, get this instead of a fasting insulin. If it's high, you're likely making lots of insulin. Low? You're not.
