Kintsura Coaching (aka coaching by me, Liz!) is not about fixing you — it’s about honoring what has already made you wise. Like many, I was inspired by the Japanese art of kintsugi, embracing the parts of our story that crack us open, and invite light to enter through them. Each scar is unique, and becomes a stroke of gold. This is how the name "Kintsura Coaching" was born.

While there is some overlap, coaching is more focused on your present situation and how you want to move forward in life, whereas therapy often does some deeper digging into the past to understand and revisit formative experiences. Therapists are also able to diagnose and treat specific disorders or illnesses (such as providing direct treatment for ADHD or depression, etc) but coaches cannot do this! However, we can absolutely support you along the way.
The first few weeks will be foundational; I'll be asking a lot of questions and getting to know you better and the situation(s) presenting. After that, we will likely have enough information to talk more about how you'd like to move forward and/or what goals you may want to focus on. However, every coaching relationship can be a bit different in terms of nature and speed that we get into different things.
I generally suggest to start off with about 20 weeks. After that, we can re-evaluate and see if you feel you've made enough progress at that point, and you can decide if you'd like to stop, take a break, or continue. Some clients will stay on board with me longer-term to have that reflection/support and check-in time, or we might change our direction and discuss different goals.
Actually, contrary to what many might think, we don't provide solutions! We brainstorm and talk together to understand both you better + the barriers that are in the way from reaching your goals. As a coach, I may provide suggestions towards strategies as well as guidance, but simply telling people what to do has shown to not actually be that effective. There's so much out there in the world trying to tell us what to do, but it doesn't necessarily mean we're going to do it :)
