FAQs

What does a Health and Wellness Coach do?

Button

Health and Wellness coaches empower individuals and groups to achieve self-determined health and wellness goals using evidence-based, client-centered approaches. As a Health and Wellness coach, my goal is to actively listen to your concerns and guide you on a path to making lasting, positive changes in your health habits and lifestyle based on your goals. Goals addressed can encompass any area of health and wellness including physical, mental, or emotional health, and overall life satisfaction

How is coaching different from therapy?

Button

Coaching is a process that aims to empower individuals or groups to achieve specific personal or professional goals, enhance performance, or navigate challenges. Coaching is focused on the present and involves goal setting and action-oriented strategies to help foster client success. Therapy addresses past experiences, emotions, traumas, or other psychological issues. Therapy aims to alleviate distress and improve mental health by using techniques to explore and understand emotions and behaviors

What is Reiki?

Button

Reiki is a Japanese energy healing technique for stress reduction and relaxation that promotes overall healing by balancing the body's "life force energy". Practitioners use light, non-invasive touch or hover their hands just above the body to guide this energy, aiming to improve mental, emotional, and physical well-being. Benefits: It is used to aid with anxiety, depression, pain, fatigue, and insomnia, often as a complement to conventional medicine.

What is Sound/Vibrational Healing?

Button

Harnessing certain sounds and using them in a specific — often meditative — way may even benefit your health. Sound therapy is a complementary therapy that relies on specific tones, frequencies and vibrations to promote healing and relaxation. Sound Healing: Using Tibetan singing bowls, gongs and tuning forks to emit calming, resonant frequencies. Reported benefits include deep relaxation, reduced chronic pain, improved sleep, lower blood pressure, and better emotional regulation.

Can you use FSA and/or HSA funds to pay for coaching services?

Button

Under certain conditions, you may be able to use your HSA (Health Savings Account) or FSA (Flexible Spending Account) to pay for health coaching services, provided a licensed healthcare provider deems coaching medically necessary for treating or preventing a specific condition (e.g. diabetes, heart disease, or mental health condition, or for weight management under a doctor's care).

What documentation is needed to use HSA/FSA funds to pay for coaching?

Button

Your doctor will likely need to provide a Letter of Medical Necessity (LMN). You will also need to check with your benefits provider to ensure that Health and Wellness Coaching is an eligible expense. It is the client's sole responsibility to ensure that coaching is eligible for reimbursement and that they have the documentation necessary for reimbursement.
