An NBC-HWC is a trained professional who must pass a rigorous exam given by the National Board of Medical Examiners (NBME) in order to become credentialed. They support clients in making lasting, meaningful lifestyle changes using science-backed strategies to guide, not tell, people how to build healthier habits in ways that work for them. • Credentialed • Client-centered • Focused on long-term well-being • Accountability partner
Coaching and therapy both use meaningful conversation and evidence-based tools to support growth. The main difference is that a coach focuses on present and future goals and progress while collaborating with the client. A therapist typically explores deeper psychological issues and provides a diagnosis and treatment for mental health conditions.
Coaching is not a substitute for medical care or therapy. If you are experiencing a mental health crisis or feel unsafe, contact the Crisis Text Line by texting HELLO to 741741 (U.S. only), call your local emergency number, or go to the nearest emergency room.
