Would it be ok to acknowledge that you cannot go back to her. She is long gone. However...we are going to have fun finding the new 4.0 of you and she is going to be more all of what you mentioned and more. She is even going to be better as she now has wisdom under her belt and can navigate thru things that stopped her back then. How do deal with my older parents who I am caregiving and still make time for myself?

As its a blessing to have older parents, it seems at times that the roles have reversed. You are the parent and they are the child. And they can be some bad and demanding kids! Its about setting some boundaries, while at the same time, showing them respect, taking care of their needs and also dealing with the loss of who they used to be. You want to answer every time they call, drop everything and run to their rescue. However, you will need to instill some balance in this new normal.
