Overview
“The freedom came when I started letting go of all these things and learned how to love myself and give myself self-compassion.” – Gretchen Holmes
In this heartfelt episode of CoachConnect, Dr. Diego Salinas sits down with speaker, author, and podcast host Gretchen Holmes to explore the deep connection between self-love, behavior change, and the client experience in coaching. A three-time cancer survivor diagnosed with type 2 diabetes in 2021, Gretchen shares how that diagnosis became the catalyst for a profound internal transformation.
Together, they dive into the emotional roots of overeating, the stigma of weight, the addiction-like relationship many have with food, and why behavior change is not a one-size-fits-all journey. From struggling with self-worth to embracing a mindset of compassion and accountability, Gretchen’s story is an inspiring example of how coaching can empower lasting change by focusing on the why behind the what.

– Healthcare providers looking to integrate coaching into patient care
– Individuals navigating emotional eating, weight loss, or chronic illness
– Anyone interested in how coaching can support deep personal transformation
