Hi, I'm Cheryl and I am so excited to jump into my second career as a Functional Medicine Certified Health Coach! I spent the last 37 years as a medical speech pathologist and manager primarily in hospitals. I retired in June 2026 and am now embarking on this health coaching career. As a therapist, my role was to diagnose and treat a variety of communication, cognitive and swallowing disorders. I love helping people establish and meet their goals!
Through my love of learning, curiosity and desire to take better care of this body God gave me, I was inspired to research my own health concerns to come up with better ways to manage my health as I age without the laundry list of prescription medications I saw my patients taking. I was encouraged by physician friends to consider health coaching in my retirement so that I could continue to help others work on their health goals too.
I am especially interested brain health and helping my clients improve their memory and cognition through improved lifestyle factors. This includes clients with various forms of dementia, including Alzheimer's, as well as mild cognitive impairments and that dreaded "brain fog" we all seem to get as we get older. Many times adjustments in lifestyle (diet, exercise, sleep and stress management) can do a world of good in combating this!
I am also very interested in working with the loved ones who provide care to their family members with dementia. In the midst of caregiving it is easy to forget the self-care that is vital for us all! Helping others age with grace and improved brain health is something I want for myself and those I serve.
In addition to the dementia and caregiving population, I am well equipped to serve anyone who is interested in improving their health as a result of chronic illness, inflammation, and insulin resistance.
Outside of health coaching, I am a Christian, wife, mother of three adult children and Gigi to five young grandchildren. In my "spare" time, I volunteer as a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) for displaced children and also as a Guardian Advocate for the elderly who do not have family support.
I am traveling this journey along with you to improve my health. I want to be an example to my family and want to live a strong healthy life to be able to interact with them for years to come. I would love to partner with others who have similar goals.
If you think health coaching and the services I offer might be something you would benefit from, please feel free to schedule a FREE Discovery call to learn more.
May Your Life Flourish!
