"TL;DR: I'm an empathetic self-help junkie who has picked up tools and tricks on my own healing journey that I now happily share with my clients. A car accident upended my “normal” life seven years ago and left me treading water in a sea of disappointment and uncertainty. I was diagnosed with post-concussion syndrome, yet doctors couldn't tell me much about the best ways to heal. As it was an invisible condition, family and friends didn't really understand what was wrong with me or how to help. I felt very alone, spending endless time and money trying to get my life back. The longer this went on, the more I felt hopeless, and the more I needed to process the grief I was experiencing and transform it into hope for a different, yet equally fulfilling future vision. Therapy helped, but I wasn't moving forward. As I tried to manage the physical and emotional pain I was experiencing, I also needed help prioritizing my endless to-do list of paying medical bills, responding to lawyers, doing my physical therapy exercises, keeping up with my job, and attending to doctor visits. One of the biggest turning points in my recovery was working with a Health Coach. The framework of coaching allowed me to access my creativity to tackle these new challenges in ways that worked for me. Along the way, I rebuilt my confidence and picked up emotional well-being and prioritization skills that helped me put one foot in front of the other, even on my hardest days. I learned about the correlation between the nervous system and healing, and focused on bringing myself out of fight or flight to allow my brain to come back online. While I'd always considered going back to school to become a therapist, I actually found coaching to be more in line with what I was looking for because of its action-oriented focus and tangible next steps, and dove into one of the only coach certification programs that focuses specifically on mental health."
