New York, United States
2 years experience
For most of my life, upping the ante to prove my self-worth was my drug of choice. The first in my family to go to college. Studying abroad at a top university overseas. Landing a competitive teaching job. Two master's degrees. Co-founding a charter school in New York City. Each achievement was real, and each one was a box I checked on the way to the next proof that I was enough.
A marriage. Two children. A life that looked, from the outside, like everything anyone could want. There were many great moments...real ones. But I was so ramped up, so stressed, so always-on, that I could never fully receive them. They deserved to be center stage. Too often, they weren't.
I was proud of that girl. She had unbridled courage. She never ruminated in the what-ifs. But somewhere along the way I realized she had moved so fast through her own life that she hadn't really felt any of it. The experiences became a checklist. The striving became a conveyor belt. And the questions she was running from-who am I, really, and what do I actually want-were still waiting, patient and unanswered, at the end of every accomplishment.
In my 40s, everything arrived at once. My body kept score and was muting its calls to me until I couldn't ignore them anymore. And for the first time, the conveyor belt stopped, and I had to learn how to just stand still.
What came next surprised me. Through deep inner work, self-compassion, and finally learning to live by my values instead of my fears, I discovered something I had never quite experienced before: joy. Presence. The feeling of being fully in my own life instead of racing through it.
I became a Georgetown-trained, nationally board-certified health and wellness coach because I am my own client. I know what it feels like to yearn for a second chapter but have no idea where to begin. To grieve a version of yourself while quietly becoming someone better. To be standing at the edge of something new, ready to leap, but unsure where to land.
If that's where you are, I know that place. And I know the way through.
My clients are in midlife and ready for their second chapter. Done proving. Ready to live by their values, find their vision, and finally step into who they're meant to be.
