In 2021, my health took an unexpected turn. What began with an unknown insect bite quickly became years of unexplained symptoms—extreme fatigue, brain fog, heart palpitations, rashes, and painful swelling and burning in my feet.
I saw numerous specialists and tried different treatments, but I continued to experience debilitating flares that could leave me struggling for days after everyday activities.
In April 2022, I began working with a functional medicine doctor and took a more holistic approach, focusing on nutrition, reducing inflammation, lifestyle changes, supplements, and gradually rebuilding my strength.
By June 2022, I began noticing a significant difference. I still had occasional mini-flares when I pushed myself too hard, but I was finally feeling more like myself. I was able to get back to the gym and work with a personal trainer to safely rebuild my strength.
Then, in May 2024, my company unexpectedly laid off a large group of employees, and I was caught completely by surprise. It made me stop and ask myself, “What do I really want to do next?”
I began thinking about everything I had learned through my own health journey—the importance of small changes, lifestyle habits, nutrition, movement, and looking at the whole person rather than just one symptom. That experience inspired me to go back to school to pursue my Health & Wellness Coaching certification.
My own journey continued to challenge me. In April 2025, I experienced my most significant flare yet, with severe foot pain and burning, swollen lymph nodes, neuropathy, brain fog, and other symptoms. My doctor revisited testing for Lyme disease and other tick-borne infections, leading to a confirmed diagnosis of chronic Lyme and a new treatment protocol.
Through all of this, I've learned firsthand how frustrating it can be when your body doesn't feel like it's cooperating—and how important it is to approach health with patience, consistency, and compassion.
Those experiences are a big part of why I created Harbor Green Holistic Coaching.
