"I am an eternal optimist and lifelong student of the study of the human condition. I created Discovery Wellness Coaching, LLC as a means to bring evidence-based practices of health & well-being coaching for lasting lifestyle and habit change both to my local community and beyond. My approach was received through the Duke Health & Well-Being Coaching Training program in 2024. I bring with me years of experience in research, physical training, rehabilitation, sports coaching, and guest teaching. I began this journey as a division I collegiate and international level athlete in women's fastpitch softball. I saw and felt what both optimal performance and catastrophic tissue failure can be. While our bodies have the potential to move in transcendent motion when timing, power, and endurances are in balance, we also experience circumstances that cause body tissue failure. These experiences inspired me to study human biomechanics at the University of Delaware and the Pennsylvania State University which then led to certificate training and licensure as a Certified Prosthetist Orthotist through the Master's degree program at Eastern Michigan University. While completing my master's clinical research in balance and the management of human center of mass displacements, I was exposed to neuromuscular adaptation research as an assistant in the Neuromechanics Lab and in the Orthotics & Prosthetics Center, both at the University of Michigan. I moved on to my clinical practice in O&P, where I facilitated and observed people with absent limbs and/or severe limb dysfunction overcome physical challenges via external device application, manipulation, and training. When pursing optimized movement in my O&P patients, I observed what are assumed to be nerve and tissue adaptations when compared to pre- and post-device application and physical training based on observed changes in body movements, as well as patient feedback. I took the opportunity to further my study of these phenomena back at Penn State University, where I met my husband, Jarred, with whom I am now raising three children. In 2019, I suffered physical trauma from an unfortunate equestrian mounting accident. It was during this time that I explored the possibilities of understanding intrinsic motivation to enhance the recovery and change processes. I continue my optimistic pursuit to understand and harness optimal human movement, adaptations, and thought via health & well-being coaching. I share this passion with my DWC clients to help facilitate their goals for lasting change to promote better well-being. I look forward to meeting you!"
