In February 2008, everything changed in an instant. I went from running six miles several times a week, lifting weights, and hiking—to being unable to walk. A black belt in Tae Kwon Do and a marathon runner, I had built my life around movement and strength. Then, a freak accident severed my sciatic nerve, leaving me with foot drop and excruciating neuropathic pain.
Moments after the injury, I tried to stand and collapsed. I couldn’t feel the ground beneath me—only sharp pins and needles and an overwhelming wave of panic. Over the following months, I saw specialist after specialist, underwent countless tests, and worked tirelessly in physical therapy. Each appointment brought the same discouraging words: “You may never walk again.”
For someone whose identity was rooted in physical ability, this loss cut deep. I felt disconnected—from my body, my confidence, and the active life I once loved.
But slowly, I began to shift my focus. Instead of dwelling on what I couldn’t do, I looked for what I could. The pool became my lifeline. In the water, buoyancy gave me freedom—my body could move again, and with it, my spirit began to heal. Swimming and aqua therapy became not just exercise, but a path back to myself. Recovery wasn’t linear. I tried everything—physical therapy, acupuncture, electrical stimulation, massage, and cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT). I also began creating—designing handmade décor and baby clothing as a way to channel emotion into something meaningful.
Through it all, I learned that healing is rarely about “getting back to normal.” It’s about rebuilding trust in your body, redefining what strength means, and finding new ways to thrive.
My holistic approach honors each client’s unique circumstances, empowering them to reclaim a sense of balance, purpose, and vitality. I'm grateful for the chance to get to know you and walk alongside you on your path to healing!
