Program structure

1. Character Creation

Button

Before we start, we need to create characters!

  • Create character sheets with Pencil & Paper
  • Or create digital sheets via Demiplane

This is either done as a group, in 1-on-1 meetings, or players can create characters independently and bring them in.

2. Session Zero

Button

Once we have characters, we need to build a world for them to explore.

Session Zero is a chance to come together as a group and define connections between characters and the world around them!

3. The Campaign

Button

TTRPG characters then form a “party” and set off on their adventures in an imaginary world!

We call the ensuing story a Campaign (verb): work in an organized and active way toward a particular goal, typically a political or social one.

Justin the wizard will take responsibility for the world, the non-player inhabitants, and any events therein.

Your group (the players) will have responsibility for the actions of your characters (the party) and will set out to (hopefully) achieve your party's goals!

4. Wrap up

Button

At some point, whether predetermined or as the natural effect of completing the goals of a campaign, we will wrap up our story.

This typically involves reaching some climactic event and a brief description of “what follows” the event, without filling in much of that after-event detail.  The fictional world that was created can be revisited, if the players desire, or you may say, “that book can be closed.”

Some groups may choose to create new characters, form a new party, and start a new campaign at such a point, others may disband and go separate ways.

In any case, it is hoped that the experience will have enriched the lives of all involved.

I'm Justin, the wizard of Wizard Wellness of Oregon LLC, and I'm here following a twist of fate. I have a BORING part first, and then a REALLY FUN thing to share after that!

The BORING part... my background...

My whole life, I've been dealing with symptoms of chronic pain and neurodivergence, yet it nearly-all went undiagnosed until the middle of 2024. At that time, I was hit by a massive flare of all those symptoms and I needed to take a medical leave from my silicon valley corporate computer engineering job. When I finally returned to work, I was impacted by a widespread layoff that was going on at the company.

I had stuck with it there during challenging times, but that didn't matter much and ultimately it was the company that gave up on me. After that I needed a change - a very significant change.

I researched my options, and with all of my recent medical care, I'd learned about board-certified health coaches along my path. During my time as an engineer, I was able to work in a coach-like role known as a "SCRUM-Master". That period of daily coaching experience combined with my health experience led me to gain the confidence to decide to pursue my Certification in Health & Wellness Coaching, and I've earned that Certificate as of May 2025! I am also planning on pursuing a board certification in the near future.

Now the REALLY FUN part!

When I decided to become a health coach, I turned my existing technological prowess towards primarily enabling myself to practice privately. This is where that "wizard" moniker emerged - I decided that I didn't just want to coach people, I also want to help build stronger communities.

I picked the domain name of my website "wizard wellness dot org" partly because it was available, partly because I am a Tabletop RPG enthusiast, partly because it reads like my LLC's name "Wizard Wellness of Oregon LLC," and partly because wizards have often served as excellent positive examples of coaching and mentorship in practice - with such characters as Cpt. Shakespeare, Merlin, Yoda, Iroh, and Gandalf all coming to mind as inspiration.

So what exactly does a wizard do that other coaches don't do?

The answer is simple. I do my group health coaching by running tabletop roleplaying games!
