Here's the short version: Insulin IQ saved my life. I've lost more than 140 pounds and have reversed one whopper of a list of medical problems. I have been hungry for most of my life, but FINALLY my food noise is totally under control, as well as my health problems. Here's the whole story, best enjoyed with coffee: I've been insulin resistant all my life, but I didn't realize it was causing so many of my other health problems. When I found Insulin IQ, I was at rock bottom. I didn't think I was going to live much longer. I often thought if I wrote my memoirs, I would start page one with "Today was the day I hit rock bottom". But then one day I realized page two would be "No, TODAY was the day I hit rock bottom." And then page three would be "No, TODAY was the day I hit rock bottom" because my health was a downhill cascade.
I was severely insulin resistant, and despite trying to reverse my conditions with a plant-based, calorie controlled diet, I just got sicker, I was always hungry, always exhausted. What I didn’t realize is how serious insulin resistance was, or how simple it could be to reverse with the right guidance. I diligently followed a vegan, low fat diet and paid for an expensive program led by a well known, plant based physician. At first I saw improvements, but then - like a plane trying to take off with the wrong kind of fuel, I couldn't gain speed. I sputtered and stalled, and things started to reverse. I ended up more damaged than when I started my new, "healthy" diet. My liver enzymes were going up, my triglycerides were going up, my blood sugar was going up. I found out that my insulin was ridiculously high and that I had such an extreme fatty liver that they couldn't really see it clearly enough on an MRI to measure it. The doctor wanted to do a liver biopsy so they could get a better idea of any damage and I said no thanks, I'll fix this myself. That is when I found Dr Bikman and Insulin IQ.
I left my vegan diet and changed to a diet rich in meat and vegetables. By following the Insulin IQ plan, I reset my “factory settings.” In less than six months, I reversed my high blood pressure, severe GERD, pre-diabetes, edema, arthritis, low stamina, low libido, weak bladder, gout, and severe sleep apnea. At my one year follow up MRI, my scan went from "hmm, can't really see it" to "no fat detected". I have an auto-inflammatory condition (Hidradenitis Suppurtiva) and it went into remission. My heart beats normally now. I no longer fall asleep at my desk, or struggle with restless legs. My relationship with food has completely changed. I went from a high-carb vegan that was always hungry to a healthier, happier omnivore. I used to eat 6 times a day, now I eat twice a day. By choice!
