In this first month, we’ll lay the groundwork by exploring what insulin resistance is and how to begin reversing it. You’ll start insulin-smart eating, set clear goals, and build confidence with early wins.
This month focuses on applying what you’ve learned—intermittent fasting, meal planning, managing social situations, and incorporating exercise to support your metabolic health.
Now we fine-tune. You’ll work through obstacles, evaluate supplements or labs, and create a realistic, sustainable strategy that keeps you moving forward after the 90 days are done.

Like most health coaches, I arrived at this place because of my own health journey. I was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes when I was 12 years old. In my 20s, I was diagnosed with Graves' disease, another autoimmune condition. In my 40s, I received another diagnosis…celiac disease. This third autoimmune condition sent me down a path of discovering what was causing my immune system to go awry and attack my own tissue instead of potential pathogens.
As I tried different approaches to heal and discovered how the ultra-processed-food world we are a part of played a significant role in my health challenges, I wanted to share what I was learning. In 2017 I earned my coaching certification and then in 2021 earned national board certification in health and wellness coaching. As I began coaching, the people who came to me all had similarities. They all were insulin resistant and moving towards a diagnosis of Type 2 diabetes. I found it remarkable how that was a commonality despite the multiple different conditions that were a struggle for them.
I went down a rabbit hole to learn more about insulin resistance and how it might connect to some of these other situations my clients were dealing with. Soon I discovered Ben Bikman's book Why We Get Sick. His explanation of the link between high insulin levels and so many chronic conditions made a light bulb go off in my mind. Because the approach of lowering insulin made so much sense, I became a certified coach with Insulin IQ.
Now with my clients, we work to get insulin levels and blood sugars back under control. Since going through perimenopause and then menopause as a Type 1, I have worked to keep my insulin low to control my weight. This perspective has helped me to understand even better the role insulin plays in people who may not yet have diabetes, but who are struggling with insulin resistance and who are carrying extra weight. It's wonderful when I watch clients connect the dots and then find success in managing their metabolic health with incremental habit changes. This approach to regaining health truly does work!
"Still need more clarity? Here are answers to some commonly asked questions.
The Insulin IQ approach to eating is not strict compared with many other approaches, but it's potentially different and will take some practice and often some "unlearning". This program focuses on realistic, sustainable changes using an insulin-smart approach to eating. You’ll learn how to make smarter food choices that work for your lifestyle—without counting calories or extreme restriction.
You’ll meet with me once a week for a 45-minute one-on-one session. These weekly check-ins are designed to support and personalize your experience as you move through the online course.
That’s okay! The online lessons are available on-demand, so you can catch up anytime. Then I can also help you adjust your plan and regain momentum if life gets in the way.
Yes, it’s recommended that you complete the weekly lessons before your coaching session. That way, we can use our time together to answer questions, apply the content, and help you move forward with clarity.
Absolutely. This course is designed for all levels. Whether you’re just learning about insulin resistance or already making changes, I’ll meet you where you are and help you build from there.
