As someone who formerly looked in the mirror and wondered where the "old Dawn" had gone, I help clients find their true happiness again. Burnout, overwhelm, self-neglect, and feeling stuck are my specialty.
As the mother of a chronically ill child, and a high school teacher during the pandemic, I understand what it means to feel like I have nothing left to give. Taking care of everyone else, I was slowly losing my own health and I was desperate to save her.
Enter coaching. I was told by the hospital that my child may not recover, and that there were camps "for kids like her." I understood what that meant. I decided then and there that I would take ownership of my role as her rock and her foundation, but I needed the tools to help her find her health and for me to keep my mind, relationships and body strong too.
Today, she and I are both thriving. And yes, I'm still happily married.
I studied and implemented the same tools I used to coach my daughter into health, and now use them with my clients. Together, we look at mind, body, spirituality, relationships, finances, and more, using the Circle of Life framework to build a personalized roadmap.
While caring for my daughter who had major digestive issues, everyone said "You need to find your balance". That's ridiculous. Can you balance life and death? Wealth and poverty? Success and burnout?
I don't want balance. I want energy and joy and desire. I want health. I want a happy marriage. I want to be fully available -body, mind, soul- to the people I love. Stop chasing balance.
What if you are chasing the wrong goal too?
Thirteen years later, my daughter is thriving, chasing huge...really, really huge, one-in-a-million...dreams. I feel great again, living life on my terms. Now I help clients figure out what they truly want and build a plan to get there.
I'm Dawn Heerema, INHC, a certified Health & Wellness Coach through the Institute for Integrative Nutrition, and a Certified Life Coach through The Life Coach School. I also taught Personal Finance for more than a decade in high school. Putting all these skills together, I help people at their rock bottom find the light and chase really big dreams.
If it feels helpful, I also partner with a bioenergetics holistic practitioner who offers an optional wellness assessment, looking at things like food sensitivities or toxin load, so we can comprehensively work your goals from both lifestyle and health sides. Many times, your roadblock is not just "in your head".
