2 years experience
After more than 25 years working in healthcare, I’ve had the opportunity to see healthcare from many different perspectives—from medical practice management and behavioral health to healthcare operations and people leadership. Throughout those years, one thing has stayed with me: there is often a gap between receiving medical care and knowing what to do next.
A person may leave an appointment with a diagnosis, lab results, medication, or recommendations to eat better, exercise more, reduce stress, improve sleep, or lose weight. But knowing what to do and understanding how to make it happen in everyday life are two very different things.
That gap is where I believe I can make a difference.
I became increasingly interested in understanding how nutrition and lifestyle influence the way we feel, function, and age. That curiosity led me deeper into functional nutrition and the interconnected roles of metabolic health, blood sugar regulation, inflammation, movement, restorative sleep, stress, and cognitive health.
What I’ve learned has reinforced something I strongly believe: people deserve to understand their health. They deserve time to ask questions, make connections, understand their options, and have support as they turn information into meaningful action.
My role isn't to replace medical care. It's to help bridge the space between healthcare and everyday life.
I want the people I work with to feel more informed and engaged in their own health—not overwhelmed by another list of things they "should" be doing. Together, we look at what may be influencing their health, identify the areas where change can have the greatest impact, and build realistic strategies around nutrition, movement, sleep, and stress reduction that can actually become part of their lives.
I’m especially drawn to working with adults in midlife and beyond because this is a time when metabolic changes, insulin resistance, chronic stress, sleep disruption, loss of muscle, inflammation, and concerns about cognitive health can begin to change the trajectory of our health. It is also a time when meaningful changes can still matter greatly.
For me, this work is about more than nutrition. It’s about helping people connect the dots, understand the "why" behind their choices, and feel equipped to participate in their health for the years ahead.
That is why I created By Design Functional Nutrition and Wellness—to help bridge the gap between knowing and doing, with education, practical support, and a whole-person approach to long-term health.
"Still need more clarity? Here are answers to some commonly asked questions.
Functional nutrition looks at the root causes behind symptoms, not just the symptoms themselves. Instead of asking ‘what’s wrong,’ we ask ‘why is this happening.’ I look at how nutrition, hormones, stress, lifestyle, and the body’s systems are all working together — and where things may be out of balance.
My role is to help you understand what your body is communicating and support you in making sustainable changes that fit your life.
