"

My nutrition journey started around 20 years ago with sports nutrition. Back then, I didn’t have the resources to educate myself properly, so I often relied on marketing claims, advice from my personal trainer, and common ideas like "salads and smoothies are healthy because they’re low in fat." That was a mistake! I took one university nutrition class, which I enjoyed, but it didn’t feel right for me. I wanted to become a registered dietitian, but that class stopped me from choosing that major.

Fortunately, I discovered informative podcasts and books that changed my perspective. I learned that traditional universities often lack a holistic approach and can be influenced by biased funding. I eventually became a licensed psychotherapist, but my interest in nutrition remained strong. I found holistic training focused on a whole-person approach, free from corporate bias.

Now, I see clients for both nutritional psychotherapy and general health, with a special focus on ketogenic therapy. I have a physical office, so I can work with you either in-person or online!

FAQs

Still need more clarity? Here are answers to some commonly asked questions.

Do I need to have any background knowledge before signing up?

Button

No. This program is designed for anyone, whether you are brand new to the idea of food-is-medicine, or you have been doing your own research for a while already. If you want to get started on some material, I recommend Dr. Ben Bikman's "Why We Get Sick," Casey Means' "Good Energy," or Georgia Ede's "Change Your Diet, Change Your Mind" books.

How does this help someone with a mental illness?

Button

Actually, it helps a lot! Dr. Christopher Palmer claims that mental illness is actually a metabolic disorder of the brain. By following a regimen to support metabolic function, you are also supporting brain function and much less likely to feel mentally ill. There's a lot more to say here, but it also includes improving gut health, sleep, and more. Nutritional therapy/metabolic therapy has been shown to be very beneficial for someone with bipolar disorder, a condition that's considered by most therapists to be life-long and one that needs to be medicated forever. It's also great for depression, anxiety, and other conditions.

Does this involve calorie restriction?

Button

Absolutely not. The idea of eating fewer calories to lose weight is not only out-dated, but also found to be very unhealthy. Many people who follow this mindset (even by recommendation of a dietitian) end up getting even sicker than before because they are only focused on eating LESS rather than eating RIGHT. Calorie restriction leads to nutrient deficiencies and sometimes even eating disorders. The body is not simply an incinerator that burns all calories equally. So my approach is focused on only the numbers that matter, which may or may not be calories, depending on your goals.

How can nutrition help with infertility?

Button

Infertility is becoming more common, unfortunately. This is often caused by a hormonal imbalance coming from poor diet and lifestyle, and insulin resistance. Many people are flocking to their doctor and getting on synthetic hormones. And that sort of works, but doesn't address the root cause of the problem. By increasing insulin sensitivity and healing the body through nutrition, we are naturally balancing hormones again and you'll find that your fertility may improve.
