"Growing up in the 80's, I established an unhealthy relationship with food and my body at a young age. Calorie counting, obsessive exercise and the scale dictated my self worth—a self perception that would continue into my adulthood.
At age 41 I started perimenopause. I quickly became aware that there was little information and conversation around menopause support. And since I started perimenopause earlier than my peers I felt isolated in my discomfort and confusion.
This began a journey to discover what health and wellness now meant for me at a new age and new chapter of my life.
Through trial and error, I found ways to navigate through menopause with grace, and with a lifestyle that worked best for my unique body.
I learned to reframe my relationship with food and my body, and realized that change and aging didn't mean a downward spiral, but was an opportunity to pivot toward a new lifestyle.
Our health is ever evolving. My current path is a work in progress, but I’ve now managed to crowd-out compulsive counting, guilt and shame around food. This doesn't mean that these emotions never pop up ... but I've learned to release those old stories more easily and embrace the positive truths about myself that best serve me.
I’m now able to tune-in to my body’s natural cues (i.e., little nudges) which help me experience a more enjoyable relationship with food and a greater sense of love and gratitude for my body.
These changes didn't happen overnight, but if I can get there (and I wasn't sure I ever would), I know others can as well.
Whatever your intentions may be for your own health, I’m excited to support you on your unique journey!
