Life can be tough, and we all face unique challenges that can make it difficult to keep moving forward. But with the right strategies, we can learn to navigate the uncertainty of life and keep making progress towards our goals. Whether you're dealing with financial difficulties, personal setbacks, or other unexpected challenges, it's important to maintain a sense of well-being and resilience as you walk your own path.

Here are seven strategies that can help you deal with uncertainty and keep moving forward:

Accept where you are

It's easy to get caught up in wishing things are different, but the truth is that we can't change the present moment. Sometimes, the only way to move forward is to accept where you are and let go of the struggle. This doesn't mean you can't take steps to make things better, but fighting against 'what is' will only exhaust you. By accepting your circumstances and letting go of the struggle, you free yourself up to focus on what you can do to improve your situation.

Find refuge

Whether it's in your home, with friends and family, or through spiritual practice, finding a sense of refuge can help ground and stabilize you during difficult times. There are two types of refuge: inner and outer. Outer refuge includes your support system, religious figures, spiritual teachers, and nature. Inner refuge is trusting that there is a power within you, one that is greater than the 'you' you believe you are. This takes practice and faith, but it can be incredibly empowering.

Develop confidence

Trusting in your inner refuge can help you build confidence in yourself and your ability to handle whatever comes your way. The more you practice this trust, the more you'll be able to find next steps to deal more successfully with uncertainty. Confidence is key to taking action towards your goals. By developing confidence in yourself and your abilities, you'll be better equipped to manage the challenges you may face.

Set goals

It's important to have a clear idea of what you want to achieve. By setting goals and writing them down, you'll be able to clarify your intentions and create a roadmap for the future. When setting goals, it's important to be specific and realistic. What do you want to achieve? What steps do you need to take to get there? By breaking your goals down into manageable steps, you'll be able to make progress towards your goals and feel a sense of accomplishment along the way.

Take action

Once you have your goals in place, it's time to take action. Break your goals down into actionable steps and focus on one step at a time. What's one small thing you can do each day to move you closer to your goal? Celebrate your successes along the way and acknowledge your progress. Taking action towards your goals is key to making progress and building momentum towards your desired outcome.

Live in the present

While it's important to have a general plan for the future, it's equally important tolive in the present moment and focus on what needs to be done today. By living in 24-hour increments, you'll be able to manage your time more effectively and prioritize self-care. Focus on what needs to be done today and let go of worries about the future. By living in the present moment, you'll be able to better manage your stress and anxiety and focus on what's most important.

Choose to believe

When you focus your attention on something positive and choose to believe in yourself, you'll be better equipped to manage the challenges that come your way. Remember, you are always in a state of transformation, and by choosing to believe in yourself, you can create the life you want. At any moment, you can choose to believe that you will manage to deal successfully with your challenges. It's not always possible to believe you will succeed at something, but you can always say, "I choose to believe”.

Dealing with uncertainty can be challenging, but by utilizing these seven strategies, you can cultivate a sense of well-being and resilience that will help you navigate the challenges of life with grace and courage. Remember to accept where you are, find refuge, develop confidence, set goals, take action, live in the present moment, and choose to believe in yourself. By doing so, you'll be better equipped to handle whatever life throws your way and create the life you want.

Creativity & Career Coach
I'm an internationally certified coach, a published author, and a university writing instructor. In addition, I have studied and practiced meditation for 30 years and have trained in other mind-body practices, such as breathwork, expressive writing, EFT, ADHD coaching, Acceptance and Commitment coaching, and non-violent communication. I can share research-backed holistic ways to help you get calmer, stay focused and find purpose and meaning in your life and work. For example, research shows that focused meditation and other techniques can increase your ability to concentrate, memorize, and study complex ideas. When our brain changes, we change. But we also need to work with the heart. When we do, this changes how we see the world and how the world sees and responds to us. I work with students and professionals who would like support with challenges such as: making transitions, choosing or changing a career or educational path, attaining emotional balance, maintaining focus, communicating effectively, pursuing a creative goal, and dealing with ADHD/executive functions issues. Exploring, creativity, and staying open to possibility are keys to living a fulfilling and meaningful life. We are all moving through successive changes, and I want to support you in making these changes positive.
